Why therapy?

Whether you’re facing a new challenge, you want a better understanding of yourself, or your life is not as you had hoped, time spent in therapy offers a valuable opportunity to focus on yourself. The therapeutic relationship is unique and healing; although the therapist is both interested and compassionate, there’s an absence of judgment and emotional bias, creating an opportunity for your exploration, clarity, and change.

Your life can be happier, easier, better.

“We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. Yet listening, of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know.” Carl Rogers

A little about me

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor with an MA in counseling and a Professional Educator’s license. My experience has included working with adult individuals and couples ages 18-90 with a variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, grief, CEN (Childhood Emotional Neglect), and life transitions. I am trained in CBT, Gottman, Psychodynamic, Client Centered Therapy, and EMDR, but of course meet you wherever you are and go from there. People have told me that they feel understood and comfortable with me, and they appreciate my interactive style. I’ve worked in private practice, high school, and hospital ER settings working with adults and adolescents with concerns ranging from crisis to every day life struggles. Outside of the office, I enjoy playing music, gardening, reading, and walking my dogs.

I believe strongly in the power of therapy, and honor your trust in me by engaging in continuous professional trainings. Beginning therapy often seems daunting, but most people feel better even after just the first visit. Let’s get started on finding your best you.
